Annual un-insured data for two Affordable Care Act (ACA) segments is calculated by the Arkansas Insurance Department (AID) using the annual release of US Census SAHIE data every year. The two segments are
- Above 138% FPL non-elderly un-insured potentially eligible for Federally Facilitated Marketplace health insurance
- At or below 138% FPL (non-elderly but > 18 yrs), un-insured and potentially eligible for Arkansas Expanded Medicaid.
AID calculates this data for the above segments because they have the potential to be covered by ACA plans.
The US Census SAHIE data released annually generally lags by two years. For example, the data available in calendar year 2025 is the 2023 US Census SAHIE estimates.
